"Sieving the smashed paprika"
In the past the garlands were dried in an oven. The dried plant was put in a special bowl ("külü") and smashed. The smashed substance was sieved and the paprika powder, called "lángpaprika"(fire-paprika), was gathered. The rest remaining in the sieve was smashed again. This paprika was extremely hot as the core, the seeds and the veins were not cut out.

" Paprika cudgelling"

"Cudgelling" ("furkózás") was a more complex method. The core was cut out, then paprika was smashed in a special bowl ("külü"), and then they separated the powder from the leftovers by sieving it.
