The paprika-„splitting” | | "Splitting" | Splitting was the process of cutting out the core, the veins and the seeds with a sharp tool until only the skin of capsicum remained. This split skin was thread in a garland and was hung on the "paprika-grate". | | "Skin drying on the paprika-grate" | The grates were suspended on the ceiling of the drying room, built for this special purpose. An iron stove warmed up the drying room. After drying it, the split skin was smashed with the "cudgel". The smashed paprika was taken to the mill for grinding. Drying the garlands was the last task of the capsicum producer. The preparator was doing the rest of the work. |
