The paprika market | | "Unloading the cart" | | | "The Society of Paprika Preparators from Szeged, 1926-1936" | For several decades, mainly between 1890-1949 - as there was no need for an official certificate - the preparators were doing industrial preparation. They bought the paprika garlands from the producers either for the market price or they made a personal agreement. During the liberal, open market period (approximately 1890-1914) this trading between the rural producer and the preparator from the town took place on the paprika market placed on the "Garland Square". After the great flood of Szeged it was moved to the City Hall Square, then to the ring road, and on the turn of the century to the today's Bartók Square. |
